Leadership School Application Deadline Draws Near
March 30, 2012
The 2012 Howard Wyman Sheep Industry Leadership School is focusing on the East Coast sheep industry and non-traditional marketing channels. Two weeks remain to make your application.
School attendees will experience production, marketing, sales, processing and end use of the eastern United States lamb industry.
Travel is planned to various sites including New Holland Sales Stables, one of the largest livestock markets in the United States and a hub for the non-traditional ethnic trade; Marcho Farms, a fabricating and slaughter facility for American lamb and veal; Valley Shepherd Creamery, a sheep dairy milking 600 head of East Fresian sheep; Catelli Brothers, one of the largest lamb and veal companies in the United States; as well as an ethnic custom harvesting facility and other private non-traditional marketers.
A group of 26 individuals will be selected for the 2012 program. Once accepted, each attendee must submit a registration fee of $200. Participants are responsible for their own travel. During the school, the National Lamb Feeders Association (NLFA) covers the cost of meals, lodging and tour-related expenses.
