Woolpack Duty Suspension Introduced
May 4, 2012
Rep. Francisco Canseco (Texas) introduced legislation (H.R. 5028) to extend the temporary suspension of duty on nylon woolpacks used to package wool. At the time of the introduction, Rep. Michael Conaway (Texas) co-sponsored the bill. The tariff of 7 percent would save producers a portion of the expense for their operation. The packs are not produced in America and, therefore, have to be imported.
The bill would extend the duty suspension on nylon woolpacks through December 2015.
The bill has been referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
