WWP's Jon Marvel Plans to Retire
October 5, 2012

Looking for a job? Extremist anti-grazing group Western Watersheds Project (WWP) announced it is looking for a successor to founder and executive director, Jon Marvel, who reportedly plans to retire. Marvel founded the Hailey, Idaho-based group in 1993 and has since used the groups roughly $1 million annual budget to removed public lands ranchers from the range. Primary tactics have been attempts to raise the grazing fee and frequent litigation.

According to a report by the House Natural Resources Committee, WWP is one of the 10 most litigious environmental groups for endangered species. They report the group has filed 21 cases since 2009 and collected nearly $500,000 in taxpayer-funded attorneys' fees (on Endangered Species Act-related cases alone).
