Research Specialist Needed in U.S. Virgin Islands

Winter blues got you down? Then maybe you should consider applying for the open research specialist position with the University of the Virgin Islands.

Under the direction of the animal science research faculty, the successful candidate will conduct research on livestock (hair sheep and beef cattle) production in a tropical environment, supervise program staff, develop research technologies, establish and maintain research facilities and will assist with on-going projects on livestock production. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the maintaining the research facilities and equipment, grant writing, planning and initiating experiments, collecting and analyzing data, writing peer reviewed journal articles and other publications, presenting papers at regional, national and international conferences and providing animal science training in seminars, workshops and short courses, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Physical demands include working outdoors in hot weather at times and working with and around animals on sheep and cattle farms.
