(December 1, 2011) With almost 1,000 people participating in the Trade Talk Show, this event dominated the National Association of Farm Broadcasters (NAFB) annual meeting in Kansas City, Mo., on Nov. 10. All the focus for Peter Orwick, executive director for the American Sheep Industry Association, was on the Let’s Grow initiative as he conducted interviews with nearly 20 farm broadcasters. Trade Talk is an opportunity for agricultural groups to talk with broadcasters to provide news stories in an effort to keep the countryside informed of current events within the industry. Other topics discussed by Orwick were how the high lamb and wool prices are affecting growth within in the industry, how the decision by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to discontinue publishing the Sheep and Goat Report will affect the industry and the progress of the 2012 agriculture appropriates bill.
