George W. Harrell, 1936-2017

George W. Harrell died June 27, 2017, at his residence in Bargersville, Ind. He was born May 7, 1936, at the family farm in White River Township (Ind.) to George Everett Harrell and Winona Pauline (Koons) Harrell.

He was a 1954 graduate of Center Grove High School and a graduate of the agriculture short course at Purdue University. He was a lifelong farmer and sheep shearer. Harrell also served as vice president and president of Mid-States Wool Growers, and functioned as a sheep and wool judge for all but two counties in his home state. He also judged sheep and wool contests in California, Illinois and Ohio.

The U.S. Army veteran is survived by his wife, Carol M. Ross of Bargersville; sister, Dorthy A. Harrell of Trafalgar, Ind.; brother John R. Harrell (Kathy) of Nineveh, Ind.; stepdaughter Sharon Annette Vice (Joe) of Greenwood, Ind.; sister-in-law, Linda Harrell of Greensburg, Ind.; and other nieces, nephews and step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
