Call to Action on the Farm Bill
ASI has issued a nationwide call to action in support of the final Farm Bill, including the key provisions for sheep producers. Most sheep programs are included in both the U.S. House and Senate passed versions, but two critical pieces are in Mike Conaway’s (Texas) House version but not the Senate version. Please click on the link below and contact your member of Congress asking that the Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.) language on sheep grazing be included in the final Farm Bill. This provision would be welcome relief to those ranchers that are being harassed with litigation using wild sheep habitat as a reason to push sheep off federal grazing allotments.
The House version includes funding for minor use, minor species pharmaceutical development, so please ask your House or Senate member to support the House language in the final Farm Bill. This funding would jump start drug labeling and approval for sheep health products in the United States.
