Oxfords to Award Foundation Flock
The American Oxford Sheep Association is pleased to announce the Oxford Foundation Flock award will continue in 2019. The deadline to apply is March 15.
The Foundation Flock award will be given out annually and will help to establish a new Oxford flock every year. The award will consist of quality Oxford ewes and one year’s breeding service and flock consultation by a prominent Oxford breeder in the recipient’s district. The ewes will range in age from lambs to young brood ewes. The animals selected will be of sound structure and will maintain good breed type.
Applicants for this award flock need to write an essay that includes the following items: 1. how you learned of this opportunity; 2. your experience with sheep, livestock and pets; 3. facilities that you have – pictures and/or videos welcomed; 4. family involvement; 5. connections you have with any Oxford breeder in your area; 6. illustrate your goals and intentions with the animals should you be awarded the Foundation Flock.
Essay entries should also include the applicant’s name, mailing address, phone number and email address. Entries should be typed and emailed to Kermit Daniels ([email protected]) or to Darwin Hall ([email protected]) prior to March 15. The winner will be announced by April 15. The flock will be presented to the recipient at the National Oxford Show and Sale, June 21-22.
