The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS) published two informational sheets from the Sheep 2011 study.
Highlights of NAHMS Sheep 2011–Part I: Reference of Sheep Management Practices in the United States focuses on the demographics and management of sheep operations and on breeding management.
The second informational sheet, Record-keeping Practices on U.S. Sheep Operations, shows the percentage of sheep operations that keep production records has increased since the NAHMS Sheep 2001 study. Record-keeping systems range from simple pocket notebooks to sheep management software programs.
