International Textile Group Closes Cone Denim Mill
October 27, 2017
International Textile Group (ITG), parent company of Burlington Industries, announced it would be closing its Cone Denim White Oak mill in Greensboro, NC at the end of the year. Citing changes in market demand and offshore sourcing, a company statement praised the tremendous efforts of its employees to manage these changes, but in the end noted that higher manufacturing costs could not be supported going forward.
Cone, which was founded in 1891, opened its White Oak facility in 1905 and employs around 200 people. ITG said it would work with customers to fulfill orders and meet needs over the coming months. In addition to Burlington, ITG owns ten manufacturing facilities in the U.S., Mexico and China.
