Apply Now for NLFA Leadership School
April 12, 2019
Applications are now open for the 2019 Howard Wyman Sheep Industry Leadership School, presented by the National Lamb Feeders Association. This year’s school will be July 7-10 in Harrisburg, Penn.
“The 2019 leadership school will focus on nontraditional lamb marketing,” said NLFA Executive Director Jodie Anderson. “In keeping with our leadership school’s history, we’ll also engage participants in case study questions and provide an overview of the various sheep industry organizations and how they can exercise their talents as industry leaders.”
Named in honor of visionary lamb feeder Howard Wyman, 2019 marks the 34th annual leadership school. It will feature tours of: New Holland Sales Stables; Marcho Farms, a lamb and veal processing plant; local farms; and live auction markets. The tours will be combined with producer panels, an update on consumer trends, carcass fabrication and value-added workshops, sheep dairy, direct marketing and other guest speakers.
Attendees will also seek creative solutions to current industry challenges through case studies. Evaluating resources and maintaining an open mind allow for entrepreneurial opportunities and industry diversification and growth.
“Critical thinking is a key component of great leadership and leadership school participants will be asked to apply their critical thinking skills to develop creative solutions to challenges our industry is facing,” stated Anderson. “Current industry leaders will also have an opportunity to hear directly from future leaders.”
The application deadline is April 30. Interested individuals can apply online at www.lambfeedersusa.org. For more information, visit the Howard Wyman Sheep Industry Leadership School Facebook page or contact the NLFA office at 605-224-0224 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
